Ironmen aim to upset U-High’s perfect start in Intercity matchup

The Ironmen look to spoil U-High’s Intercity title chances when they host the Pioneers’ today at 4:30 p.m.

U-High, the reigning Intercity champions, enter the match 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in tournament play. Community is 2-0-1 and undefeated in Intercity action.

The Pioneers return 18 players from last season’s roster, a team that finished the 2023 campaign as IHSA 1A State runners-up.

U-High has surrendered just two goals on the season with veteran goalkeeper Noah Grieshaber minding the net.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder will pose a challenge for an Iron offense that is averaging three goals a game this season.

Believe Avida, Cassius Sharp and Cooper Lee take the pitch atop the Community’s offensive stat sheet, each with a pair of goals after three games.
