Rewind: Ep. 1 — Brad Bovenkerk, Class of 2005

Flip open the yearbook and hit play: In each episode of Rewind, hosts Beatrix Alvarez and Vidushi Shukla hop into a pop culture time machine, revisiting the movies, music and trends that defined one Community teacher’s senior year of high school.

In the debut episode, English teacher Mr. Brad Bovenkerk takes us back to 2005, when “download” could mean overnight, “The O.C.” was appointment viewing and “Mr. Brightside” was a staple on every burned CD.

Strap in as Rewind swaps the classroom for the timeline, and we trade lectures for laughs as we break down the songs, movies, TV shows and trends that shaped a year.

Beatrix Alvarez is a senior at Community and participates in cross country and track. This is her second year working with the Inkspot as a senior staff reporter. On the weekends, I enjoy going shopping and hanging out with my friends. I like spending time with my two dogs, drawing and autumn weather.

Vidushi is a senior at Community and participates in cross country, student council and key club. This is her second year working with the Inkspot, where she is a senior staff reporter. On the weekend, I hang out with my friends read and go on bike rides. My all-time dream is to travel the world and meet people from different backgrounds.
