Iron finish second in 2024 Intercity, fall to U-High Pioneers

Community finished second in the 2024 Intercity soccer tournament, falling to the U-High Pioneers for the second consecutive season. The Ironmen finished the tournament with a 3-1 record, losing to U-High 4-2.

U-High went undefeated in the annual tournament, outscoring opponents 13-4.

The Iron never led against the Pioneers in Sept. 5’s contest, trailing 3-1 at the half after a goal from Cassius Sharp.

The midfielder leads the team in scoring, with all five of his goals coming in the Intercity tournament.

Believe Avida added a second score in the second half of the match. Avida finished the tournament with three goals and two assists.

Noah Molitor found the back of the net four times for the Pioneers, recording a hat-trick in the first half before adding another score in the second.

Community last won the Intercity title in 2022 with a 3-0-1 record.

The Ironmen are 3-1-2 on the season, drawing with Minooka and Champaign Centennial, and 2-0-1 in the Big 12.

Community is back in action when they host Richwoods (5-1-1, 1-0) at 6 p.m. on Sept. 12.
