Ironmen face Pekin Dragons in Regional Semis

The Ironmen basketball team is set to host Pekin High School (7-16) in the IHSA Regional Semifinals Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Community defeated the Dragons Dec. 7 by a 25-point margin at Pekin. Community held the Dragons to 18 points, despite Pekin averaging 41.3 points per game.

The Ironmen are undefeated at home with a record of 9-0. Pekin travels to Community with a road record of 2-5.

The sole loss for the Ironmen on the way to a 30-1 regular season record came at the hands of Champaign Centennial in December.

The winner of Wednesday’s game will play Friday, Feb. 25 at Normal Community facing the winner of the Bradley-Bourbonnais/East Moline matchup.

Eli Schneider is a senior at Normal Community High School and in his third year of working with the Inkspot as a Senior Staff Reporter. Eli plays varsity lacrosse for the B-N Lacrosse co-op and enjoys watching baseball, football, and hockey at both the collegiate and professional levels.
