NCHS continued their successful season Sept. 20 with 25-7 and 25-9 wins at home.

The Lady Iron dominated much of the matches with strong hits and impressive blocks. Though there were certainly players who continually made big plays, the team was a cohesive force to be reckoned with.

“We play really well together,” said junior setter Jamie Vasilou. “Especially for being early in the season.”

It’s clear from the 7-0 start of the first match and 12-1 start of the second match, that the team values a quick start.

“We like to come out strong at the beginning of every game to get our rhythm going early,” Vasilou continued.

The team has worked towards team building, resulting in their 18-3 start to the season.

“Any good team knows that they have to have each other’s backs and they have to have trust in one another,” said junior outside hitter Kaylee Probst. “There’s no shortcuts when you’re building trust in a team.”

The Lady Iron are a worthy competitor, and that doesn’t always come easily.

“Trust is what pushes us to do our jobs and succeed under pressure,” Probst continued.

The varsity team’s success has garnered support all through town.

“Wow,” commented U-High freshman Abby Totten after the match, “NCHS is really good.”
