Cross country Sectionals & State recap

The NCHS cross country team ran at the Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville course for the IHSA Sectional Meet on Saturday, October 1st.

Danielle Beckstead(10) placed first for the NCHS girls team with a time of 19:02, allowing her to go to State as an individual.

The boys as a team placed 4th overall, allowing them to go to State. The team consisted of Austin Peters(11), Jared Peters(11), Tanner Kuenneth(12), Collin Rink(12), Carson McCormick (9), Nathan Jones (12), Mitch Turner (10).

Austin Peters came first for the NCHS boys team with a time of 16:32. When asked about the team’s performance, he commented, “It was a great team effort. We raced it very well.”

Cross Country coach Den Patton agreed with Peters, and said, “Both teams ran really well. It was a tough course, and they really pushed it.”

The team ran at Detweiller Park in Peoria for the IHSA State Meet on Saturday, November 9th.

The Boys CC team placed 26th in the 3a Division, with Tanner Kuenneth coming first for the team (placing 119th overall) with a time of 15:43.

Beckstead ran with a time of 15:43, placing 86th overall.

“Even though we didn’t do as well as we had hoped,” said Collin Rink, “we are proud that we got to State. The entire team did really well.”

Shubhang Desai is a sophomore at NCHS. He is a staff reporter.   Things I like Friends (the TV show), music, Tumblr, and Xbox. My favorite film  Inception for sure. Leo is the man. My guilty pleasure  Twisted, which, even though it is aimed towards the female demographic, is a great show. One thing that really baffles me  Why is colonel pronounced the way it is? Furthermore, why is Colonel Sanders considered a colonel? Book that moved me Private Peaceful was the first book that made me overcome with sadness
