Ironmen impressively win 11th straight

Some may have thought that the Ironmen Boys basketball team might have not been ready to play Danville on Friday night after their four game sweep at the Rockton tournament the previous weekend. The Ironmen had rattled off 10 straight wins and Danville didn’t slow them down on their way to 11 straight. The Ironmen used solid post play along with good outside shooting to take care of Danville, 59-39.

The game started a little slow, but the Ironmen got on the board first. Danville threatened to score on a break away off a steal, but they missed the wide-open dunk, allowing the Ironmen to gain momentum. After the first quarter, the score was 14-11; the Ironmen were leading but it was still anyone’s game. Then the Ironmen had strong effort on both sides of the ball to lengthen the lead at halftime to 29-18.

After the break, the Ironmen didn’t let up, winning the third quarter and improving the lead to 47-29. They ended the quarter on an 8-0 run, sparked by sophomore Alex Peacock, who ended with 10 points. Danville never got within 16 points of NCHS, who dominated even more in the fourth quarter, winning by 20 in the end, 59-39. The Ironmen had a very balanced attack offensively, led by Senior Trevor Seibring with 11 points and 6 boards. Callen Boddie (12), chipped in 9 points and a team high 7 rebounds.

After an impressive 10 game winning streak, NCHS kept it up with a big win against a conference opponent. They improved to 15-6 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Hopefully the Ironmen can use this confidence to roll throughout the season.
