Community’s dance team closed out its season with the annual Guy/Girl routine, performing during halftime of the boys basketball team’s regular-season finale against Normal West on Feb. 21.

The performance served as a farewell for the Iron Dance seniors, marking the end of their seasons.

Iron Dance wrapped up their competive season at the IDTA State Finals on Feb. 15 before quickly shifting gears, finalizing choreography and selecting music for the Guy/Girl performance just two days later.

Seniors Kamden Boone, Sadie Fiala, Jaiden Mousty and Peyton Tomlinson choreographed the routine themselves, carefully choosing their partners based on height, personality, crowd appeal and floor placement.

With only three practices to prepare, the dancers focused on delivering an engaging, high-energy performance, something Mousty thinks they accomplished.

“We just knocked it out,” Mousty said.

Set to a mashup of songs including “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé and JAY-Z, the halftime show energized the packed crowd at Community’s final home game of the season.
