Chamber choir to be featured on Channel 25 WEEK’s ‘Sounds of the Season’

Chamber choir performance to be featured on NBC, ABC broadcasts Dec. 24, 25

A special chamber choir performance will be broadcast as part of Channel 25 WEEK’s “Sounds of the Season” holiday segment on Dec. 24 and 25.

Community, one of several area high schools invited to appear on the special, recorded their performance in Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria on Nov. 14.

Choir Director Mr. Ben Luginbuhl accepted the offer to give the students a “fun” experience while bringing some joy to the community, he said.

While the 30-member chorus taped three songs, Luginbuhl said only one song is guaranteed to make it on air.

The song line-up consisted of “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and “Carol of the Bells.”

Several performers hoped that their jazz rendition of Frank Sinatra’s classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” would be selected.

The performances will air on Channel 25 Week, Central Illinois’ NBC affiliate, on Dec. 24 at 10:00 p.m. and Dec. 25 at 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and on Channel 19 WHOI, Central Illinois’ NBC affiliate, Dec. 24 at 4:00 p.m. and Dec. 25 at 5:00 a.m.
