  • Drexel Douglass was elected by the senior class as one half of the 2021 Homecoming Royalty.

  • Joey Fela was selected from the 10 members of the Homecoming Court as one of this year’s two Homecoming Royals.

Seniors Drexel Douglass and Joey Fela were crowned as the inaugural “Homecoming Royalty” at the kickoff of Friday, Sept. 24’s Homecoming football game.

NCHS opted for the more inclusive term “Royalty” in place of “King” and “Queen” terminology. As a result, two male candidates, Douglass and Fela, were honored, a shift from previous years that recognized one male and one female.

After nominating the 10 members of the Homecoming Court, Seniors cast their final votes. The top two vote-getters, regardless of gender, were named “Homecoming Royalty.”
Historically, the Homecoming Court consisted of five males and five females. This year, four male students and six female students were nominated: Drexel Douglass, Joey Fela, Steven Gray, and Andrew Short; Lily Bernardi, Kori Holland, Anita Kalombo, Eleni Lockett, Isabelle McCormick, and Anna Yard.
