Fashion club premieres at NCHS

Fashion club founders Sanjana Saxena and Pavani Nukala led the new club’s first meeting, with sponsor Mrs. Laura Thomas, on Thursday, September 15.

Saxena and Nukala noticed that the school had three fashion courses, yet no fashion club.  Saxena states, “We wanted to be able to do activities that you can’t do in the course itself, and get really involved in the fashion community.”

The club will participate in many out-of-school activities.  The group of about 20 students will be attending a bridal show at the DoubleTree Hotel on Sept. 25 as their first outing.  The members will be able to talk with vendors and watch fashion shows.

In addition to attending fashion shows, upcoming events will involve henna and movie days.  Towards the end of the year, the club will put on their own fashion show.

Members meet every other Thursday in addition to their out-of-school excursions.  At each meeting, Saxena or Nukala leads a small discussion about current fashion trends.  They also discuss careers within the fashion industry, social media in relation to fashion, and other various aspects of the fashion world.

Thomas, the Fashion club’s sponsor states, “It’s fun to see how passionate this group is about all things related to the fashion industry.”

Though Fashion club is in its beginning stages, the interest has been high, and the club hopes to have an exciting year of activities ahead of them.
