Tonight, Friday, April 17, NCHS would have hosted the 2020 Normal Community Co-Ed Track Invitational and recognized the senior athletes of the boys and girls track teams. However, like so many other events, that meet is canceled.
Kailah Carter (‘20), a 2018 and 2019 State track and field qualifier, “was hoping to have an amazing track season this year”; however, the coronavirus has put her competitive season on hold.
After ending her Lady Iron basketball career after her junior year, Carter intended to focus on track, and spring into her senior season with an extra level of confidence and focus, hoping to “end [her] high school experience with success and great memories.”
With goals of winning the 4×4 in the Bloomington High School Invite and Big 12 Conference meet, Carter was optimistic that her intense preparation and training would grant her a spot at State in 2020 for the 400.
However, if Carter and the rest of the NCHS spring athletes will have that opportunity remains to be seen.
