Volleyball head coach Ms. Christine Konopasek recorded her 400th career victory Oct. 21 as the Ironmen improved to 28-5 on the season with a 2-0 sweep over Danville.
The straight-set win (25-18, 25-9) capped an unbeaten Big 12 campaign for Community, earning the program its first conference championship since 2021.
Behind senior outside hitter Alana Whitfield’s 12 kills on .923 hitting and Maggie Michaels’ five aces, the Ironmen controlled both sets from the service line and at the net. Lauren Michaels added two aces while posting a perfect 100% serve percentage.
Community hit .385 as a team, committing just three attacking errors in the match.
Konopasek, in her 16th season leading the Ironmen, said earlier this month she hoped to reach the milestone “with this group.” Monday night, her roster delivered — securing not only win No. 400 but the conference crown that came with it.
