The Ironmen girls basketball team face the East Moline United Township Panthers (26-5) in the Sectional Semifinals at Normal West at 6 p.m. Feb. 20.

Community knocked off the Panthers earlier this season with 75-49 victory on Dec. 21.

In that contest, North Caroline State commit Lorena Awou led U.T. with 29 points, shooting 57%.  Awou was the Panthers offense in the game, as the team’s second-highest scorer tallied just six points in the game.

Olivia Corson was dominant for the Iron in the team’s first matchup this season. The senior put up 32 points for Community, sinking all four of her perimeter attempts, going 11 for 14 from inside the arc and six for six from the line. Corson’s accomplishment came in just 17 minutes of action.

Ali Ince added 17 for the Iron, shooting 55% on the day.

The contest is a rematch of last season’s Sectional Semis, where the Iron sunk 10 shots from beyond the arc on the way to a decisive 60-22 win over East Moline U.T.

The winner of this matchup will face the victor of tonight’s O’Fallon (2)/Alton (1) contest in Thursday’s Sectional Championship.
