Community won last season’s Chili Bowl, defeating Normal West 45-7.

Community (1-1) looks to snap Normal West’s (2-0) shutout streak when the Ironmen host the Wildcats in Friday’s annual Chili Bowl game at 7 p.m.

West enters the rivalry matchup outscoring opponents 88-0, with the Wildcats looking to snap a streak of their own — Community’s nine consecutive Chili Bowl victories.

In last season’s contest, the Ironmen defeated the Wildcats 45-7, on the way to a Big 12 Conference Championship and an undefeated regular season.

West currently shares first place in the Big 12 with Champaign Centennial (2-0) and Peoria Notre Dame (2-0) after the Wildcats routed Champaign Central 42-0 and Bloomington 46-0.

Community opened the season with a 23-17 road loss to 8A O’Fallon in non-conference play.

In week two’s home opener, the Ironmen led Champaign Central 43-0 after three quarters of play, before giving up two fourth quarter touchdowns in the 50-14 win over the Maroons.

With a Community win and losses for Centennial and Notre Dame Friday, the Ironmen can claim a share of first in the conference.

Centennial hosts Richwoods (0-2) while Notre Dame takes on Bloomington (1-1) at home.
