Taking a walk in NCHS students’ shoes

Normal Community students and their favorite shoes

  • Kayla-16 An Honors student and member of the Iron Dance Team, Kayla knows just as well as any ballerina that shoes don’t last forever. She’s gone through three pairs of pointe shoes in the past few years, showing her teachers how hard she works—in school and on the dance floor.

  • Kathryn-16 Although Kathryn excels in academics and loves spending time with her friends and family, her loyalty lies on the NCHS track. When she has her track shoes on, she can run faster and jump higher than most girls her age.

  • Keerthi-15 A part of the tennis team, Future Business Leaders of America, Class Board, and numerous other academic clubs, Keerthi needs some time to reward herself-to dress up and enjoy her teenage years.

  • Nick-18 As a senior, Nick loves his Vans because they allow him to do any activity comfortably, making him mobile his senior year and allowing him to live it up every day.

  • William-16 Growing up in a family solely committed to baseball, Will follows in the footsteps of his father and brother and leads his younger brother to do the same. Though his family is huge, he feels most at home in his baseball cleats.

  • Storm-16 Storm is a sophomore athlete at NCHS, playing football in the fall and baseball in the spring. Although he may take pride in his athletic shoes/cleats, he prefers his new Sperrys, saying, “look good feel good, am I right?”

  • Elizabeth-18 Senior captain and leader of the Iron Dance Team–Elizabeth has danced since she was a little girl, and is practically defined by her dance shoes.

  • Derek-16 Under a heavy influence of his two older brothers, Derek spends a large amount of his time on the soccer field.
