The Ironmen have their sights set on a third consecutive Regional title after knocking off Normal West 49-26 on Feb. 12, improving to 29-3 on the season.
While Community and West traded leads for the first five minutes of play, the Iron began to pull away after Olivia Corson banked a layup of the backboard for a 7-4 Iron lead with 2:21.
The scoreboard read 12-4 after Marco Reynolds hit a three-pointer with under a minute to play in the opening period.
But the Wildcats battled back. West sunk two field goals, including one as time expired, to trim Community’s lead to 12-8.
West narrowed the lead to 13-11 just over a minute into the second quarter. But the Wildcats would not light the scoreboard up again for nearly seven minutes.
A 16-0 Community run put the Ironmen’s lead at 29-11, and the game out of reach for West, who trailed 29-12 after going one for two from the line to close out the half.
West could not close the deficit in the third as the Iron extended their advantage to 37-18.
Corson led Community in scoring with 14, Ali Ince tallied 11 and Reynolds added 11.
Community will play for a Regional championship on Thursday, Feb. 15 when the Ironmen head to Pekin to face the Dragons at home.
Pekin is 12-16 on the season, defeating Minooka 41-28 in the first round of regional action.
