School song performance

One of the hallmarks of any NCHS assembly is the performance of the school song – each year, Mr. Ben Luginbuhl teaches the students the lyrics at the opening day assembly. The song itself is a hallmark of NCHS – it plays each day at 3:30 to mark the end of the teaching day, on late starts an acapella recording by Voice Male is played.

Homecoming is no different. However, during Homecoming week some teachers go a little further – each year, Mr. Dave Feeney offers a little extra credit to his students who perform a unique rendition on the school song on the Friday of Homecoming week.

However, during Homecoming week some teachers go a little further with the school song – each year, Mr. Dave Feeney offers a little extra credit to his students who perform a unique rendition on the school song on the Friday of Homecoming week.

“I think it is awesome that students get into showing some school spirit,” Feeney said of the tradition, “and as dorky as this sounds, there is a presentation element. The kids have fun and bring their own little quirks.”

Feeney added that the school song tradition in his classroom turns into a “talent show of sorts where I have students that I would have never guessed they had these skills.”

One memorable variation of the school song was performed in the form of a puppet show, while this year a student incorporated a confetti cannon into their rendition.
