‘Dancing with the Staff’ supports March of Dimes amid maternal death crisis
The FBLA’s Dancing with the Staff competition raised $525 for their national charity partner, March of Dimes, on Tues., Feb. 21.
The organizations’ partnership dates back to 1975 when FBLA chapters began raising awareness and funds to support the March of Dimes—a national non-profit working to improve the health of mothers and babies.
Eight student-staff teams took to the stage, showcasing their dance moves, with event proceeds supporting March of Dimes’ mission of ending preventable maternal health risks and deaths.
Maternal mortality in the U.S. are at a six-decade high, with more than 1,200 women dying in 2021 during pregnancy or shortly after childbirth, according to a March 16 CDC report.
Mr. John Bergmann and senior Dhanush Gurrala claimed the night’s top honors, winning the charity competition, performing to a medley of Michael Jackson hits.
